Nvidia FX 5500 在 Xubuntu 18.04 中无人认领

我有一台相当老旧的系统（HP t617m，奔腾 4 2.6 ghz），我试图使用 Xubuntu 18.04 32 位恢复它。为此，我最近买了一台 Nvidia FX 5500 PCI（我没有 AGP 端口），但我从来没能让它工作。我知道有一个名为 nouveau 的免费驱动程序，我想使用它。为了使用 PCI 显卡，我在 BIOS 中设置了板载显卡和 pci 显卡之间的切换。当我进行更改时，显卡使 HP 启动屏幕正常，但之后它就变成了黑屏。然后我被迫再次设置板载显卡，一切正常。
