我的问题已经解决了。我安装了 gnome-shell 环境并放弃了 Unity。

sudo apt-get install gnome-shell

然后注销并选择 GNOME

选择 GNOME 而不是 Ubuntu

这compize将从我的列表中删除该进程$top，并将其替换为Xorg和gnome-shell（不确定在更改桌面环境之前 Xorg 是否在列表中）。这两个进程平均占用了大约 5% 的 CPU 空间。
