2 NAS drives, 2 different speeds on network

I have a WD NAS drive, I can move files to and from it at about 125 MB/s. I have a Netgear NAS drive, I can move files to and from it at about 30 to 35 MB/s. From the same pc, connected to the same Gigabit network switch (all hardware is Gigabit, and cables are cat 7).

WD is a single drive, Netgear is a 4 drive RAID5.

My question I suppose is: Does the fact that it's RAID5 make a difference to transfer rates? And, should I expect more speedy transfers from it or try a different RAID flavour?
